India successfully test-fired the medium-range ballistic missile Agni-4 from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha on August 6, marking another important milestone in the country’s strategic defence programme.

The test was conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command with the involvement of the Defence Research and Development Organisation. The launch successfully validated all operational and technical parameters of the missile, reaffirming its reliability and operational readiness. 

The nuclear-capable Agni-4 is a key component of India’s strategic deterrence capability. Designed to deliver precision strikes over long distances, the missile strengthens the country’s preparedness to respond to emerging security challenges.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the Strategic Forces Command and DRDO on the successful test. Describing the launch as a “textbook mission”, he said it reaffirmed India’s commitment to defending the nation with advanced technologies. 

The successful launch further strengthens India’s indigenous defence capabilities while reinforcing Odisha’s position as one of the country’s leading centres for missile testing and strategic technological advancement.
