Odisha Naval Tata U-14 Boys Hockey Grassroot Championship 2025 Begins in Rourkela with 35 Teams Competing

The 4th edition of the Odisha Naval Tata U-14 Boys Hockey Grassroot Championship 2025 has officially commenced at the world-class Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela. The prestigious youth tournament has drawn a total of 35 teams, featuring around 400 budding hockey players from various Hockey Training Centres (HTCs) and Grassroot Centres (GRs) across Odisha. Adding to the excitement, a team from Jharkhand has also joined the competition this year, marking a wider regional participation.

Organised by the Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Centre (ONTHHPC) in collaboration with the Department of Sports and Youth Services, Government of Odisha, the event is aimed at identifying and nurturing promising young hockey talent at the grassroots level. Sudipta Kumar Nayak, Deputy Director (Sports) of the Odisha government, inaugurated the championship as the chief guest, encouraging young players to showcase their skills and sportsmanship.

The 35 participating teams have been divided into eight pools, labeled A to H, with the pool toppers advancing to the quarterfinal stage. The matches are being played daily on the two pitches of the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium, beginning early at 6:30 AM to ensure an action-packed schedule throughout the tournament.

The grand finale of the Odisha Naval Tata U-14 Boys Hockey Grassroot Championship 2025 is scheduled to take place on November 8 at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium. The event stands as a testament to Odisha’s commitment to promoting hockey and developing future stars who could one day represent the state and the nation on the international stage.
