Jayaram Claims Double Gold for Odisha at U-23 Indian Open Athletics Championship

Odisha sprinter Dondapati Jayaram scripted a memorable performance by clinching a golden double at the 5th Indian Open U-23 Athletics Championship held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Warangal. The 20 year old rising athletics star showcased exceptional speed and consistency, first winning the men’s 100m sprint with an impressive timing of 10.49 seconds and then returning to dominate the men’s 200m event where he clocked a personal best of 21.10 seconds to seal his second gold medal of the tournament. His outstanding run has placed him among the most promising young sprinters from Odisha on the national circuit and highlights the state’s growing presence in Indian athletics.

Odisha also celebrated another podium finish through middle distance runner Laxmipriya Kishan, who secured the silver medal in the women’s 1500m event. She delivered a strong performance and completed the race in 4 minutes 31.97 seconds, further adding to the state’s medal tally at the championship.
