Sambalpur Comes Alive with Nuakhai and Rangabati Mahotsava 2025

The city of Sambalpur witnessed a grand celebration of its cultural identity and timeless traditions with the successful hosting of the Nuakhai Festival and Rangabati Mahotsava from August 27 to 29, 2025. The three-day event showcased Sambalpur’s vibrant music, rich culture, colorful rituals, exquisite handlooms, and community spirit, drawing participants, artists, leaders, and visitors from across India. One of the highlights of the festival was the presence of Shri Dharmendra Pradhan ji, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Government of India, who joined the people of Sambalpur in celebrating Nuakhai. His participation added a special charm to the event, reinforcing the importance of cultural bonds and community traditions that lie at the heart of Odisha’s heritage.
The Rangabati Mahotsava and Nuakhai Festival were not just about rituals and festivities but also about discovering Sambalpur’s hidden gems. Attendees immersed themselves in soulful rhythms, festive flavors, and inspiring cultural narratives that made the city come alive in all its glory. From mesmerizing folk performances to the showcase of Odia handlooms and crafts, every corner of the festival reflected the pride and beauty of Odisha’s traditions. The Rangabati Mahotsav Immersion Trip, which ran alongside the celebrations, brought together eminent voices and achievers from diverse fields. The inspiring line-up included Ajay Kaul, former CEO of Domino’s India and advisor to leading brands like Chaayos and California Burrito; Arjun Vajpai, the youngest to scale Mount Everest and a Guinness World Record holder; Bijoylaxmi Hota, noted yoga guru and author; Geeta Mathur, respected board member and advisor; Mohit Gupta, founder of Friends of Books and curator of City Experience Festivals; Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, author, founder & CEO of HridaySe Consulting and former Director HR at Indian Oil Corporation; and Reela Hota, eminent Odissi dancer and author. Their presence enriched the cultural journey, blending tradition with modern inspiration and offering participants a unique and memorable experience.
The success of the festival was made possible by the collective efforts of organizers and supporters. With the leadership of PWIF and FROB, and the valuable contribution of trusted partners like Indian PR Agency, Argus News, ABM Communication, Sand Pebbles Tours, and New Delhi Odia Samaj, the celebration became a true reflection of collaboration and cultural pride.
