Odisha to Host 84th Indian Roads Congress in Bhubaneswar After a Decade

Odisha’s capital city, Bhubaneswar, is gearing up to host the 84th Indian Roads Congress (IRC) at Janata Maidan from November 6 to 10, marking the return of this prestigious national event to the state after a decade. The five-day congress will bring together around 3,500 delegates, including experts, engineers, scientists, academicians, and administrators from across India, for an extensive exchange of knowledge and ideas on the nation’s evolving road infrastructure.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the event, which will focus on innovation, technology, sustainability, and policy frameworks in road construction and maintenance. This year’s congress holds special significance as it is the sixth time Odisha is hosting the IRC. Bhubaneswar last hosted the 75th edition of the congress in 2015, making this year’s event a much-anticipated return.

The Indian Roads Congress serves as a premier platform to discuss the latest advancements in road engineering, construction technology, and infrastructure planning. Several technical sessions and exhibitions will be held to showcase cutting-edge materials, smart technologies, and sustainable engineering practices used in modern road development. The discussions will emphasize building resilient, eco-friendly, and cost-effective transport networks that support India’s vision for improved connectivity and economic growth.

In addition to the technical sessions, the event will also feature presentations on sustainable transport development and evidence-based innovations from leading companies and research institutions. The congress aims to strengthen collaboration between government bodies, business enterprises, and academic institutions to enhance the quality and safety of India’s road networks.

Adding a cultural dimension to the prestigious event, the Department of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture will organize performances showcasing Odisha’s rich heritage through traditional art, dance, and music.

The 84th Indian Roads Congress in Bhubaneswar stands as a landmark event for Odisha and the nation, fostering innovation, sustainability, and cooperation in the field of road infrastructure while celebrating the cultural spirit of the state.
