Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday inaugurated the much awaited Konark Eco Retreat for the 2025 26 tourism season at the picturesque Chandrabhaga beach in Puri district. The premium eco tourism facility, developed by the Odisha Tourism Department, features 70 luxury tent houses designed to offer visitors a unique blend of nature, comfort and world class hospitality.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who also holds the Tourism portfolio, along with MLAs and senior state government officials, attended the inaugural ceremony. The Tourism Department confirmed that accommodation at the Konark Eco Retreat will remain open for tourists till March 12, allowing visitors to experience Odisha’s coastline during the peak travel season.
The Konark Eco Retreat promises facilities comparable to five star hotels, including premium accommodation, curated food options and overnight stay in well appointed luxury tents. Of the total 70 tent houses set up this season, 30 are deluxe cottages, 20 are premium cottages, 12 are royal cottages and 8 are presidential villas, catering to different budget segments and luxury preferences.
As per the tariff structure announced by the Tourism Department, charges for a deluxe cottage range between Rs 5,400 and Rs 9,000 per night. The premium cottages are priced between Rs 7,000 and Rs 16,000 per night. For those seeking a more luxurious experience, royal cottages are available at rates ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 16,000 per night, while the most exclusive presidential villas are priced between Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000 per night.
Beyond luxury accommodation, Konark Eco Retreat offers a wide range of recreational and adventure activities for tourists. Visitors can enjoy watersports, parasailing, beach shacks, cycling, beach volleyball and yoga sessions, making it an ideal destination for both relaxation and adventure. The retreat also features two bars and well equipped conference hall facilities, making it suitable for corporate retreats and private events.
The launch of the Konark Eco Retreat is part of a larger eco tourism initiative by the Odisha government. In November, the Tourism Department rolled out eco retreat facilities at six scenic locations across the state for the 2025 26 season. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida formally launched these eco retreats on November 15 through a virtual event from Odisha Parab in Bengaluru. The locations include Bhitarkanika in Kendrapara district, Satkosia in Angul, Hirakud in Sambalpur, Daringbadi in Kandhamal, Sonapur in Ganjam and Putsil in Koraput.
With luxury amenities, diverse activities and scenic coastal surroundings, the Konark Eco Retreat is expected to significantly boost tourism in Odisha while promoting sustainable and eco friendly travel experiences.
