Odisha Athletes Shine at Sub Junior Artistic Gymnastics National Championship with Multiple Medals
Odisha’s young gymnasts made the state proud with an impressive medal haul at the Sub Junior Artistic Gymnastics National Championship 2025–26 held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Athletes from the Odisha AM/NS India Gymnastics High Performance Centre delivered outstanding performances, securing two silver and one bronze medal in individual events, along with an additional bronze medal in the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics under 12 team category. Their achievements highlight the state’s growing excellence in gymnastics and the success of Odisha’s robust sports development programme.
A total of 11 gymnasts represented Odisha at the prestigious event, including ten athletes from the Odisha AM/NS India Gymnastics HPC and one athlete from the Puri grassroots centre. In the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics under 12 category, Om Sri Rudra Narayan Sahoo, Pikki Saketh and Sayan Chhatoi showcased exceptional skills. The under 14 MAG category featured promising talents such as Priyam Mallick, Subham Kheto, Sidheswar Das, Abhaya Kumar Das and Abhijeet Pradhan. The Women’s Artistic Gymnastics under 14 category saw strong participation from Resham Khan, Shoumyashree Priyadarshini and Sangita Halder.
Among the standout performers, young gymnast Sayan Chhatoi excelled in the under 12 individual events, winning two silver medals in Floor Exercise and Still Rings with remarkable precision and confidence. In the under 14 category, Abhaya Kumar Das secured a bronze medal in Floor Exercise, demonstrating impressive strength and control. The Men’s Artistic Gymnastics under 12 team from Odisha added to the overall success by earning a bronze medal, with key contributions from Om Sri Rudra Narayan Sahoo and Sayan Chhatoi.
Speaking on the notable achievements, Vikas Yadvendu, Head of CSR at AM/NS India, emphasized that the performance of these young athletes reflects the organization’s strong commitment to sports development. He highlighted that these gymnasts represent the future of Indian sports, shaped through discipline, confidence and teamwork. He further added that the seamless integration of grassroots centres with the High Performance Centre in Bhubaneswar ensures a strong and continuous talent pipeline, nurturing gymnasts right from identification stages to elite national performance levels.
