Double Gold for Mausumi Das as Odisha Women Shine at Khelo India Weightlifting League

Odisha’s women weightlifters delivered an impressive performance at the ASMITA Khelo India Women’s National Weightlifting League held in Modinagar, showcasing the state’s growing strength in the sport and bringing home multiple medals across categories.

The highlight of the event was sixteen-year-old Mausumi Das, who clinched double gold on Monday by winning both the over 77 kg Youth event and the 86 kg senior event. Her outstanding achievement underlined her potential as one of Odisha’s most promising young weightlifting talents.

Swetalina Mohanty also made Odisha proud by securing two gold medals earlier in the competition. She topped both the 63 kg Youth category and the 63 kg junior category on Saturday, continuing the strong run for the Odisha contingent.

On Sunday, another young lifter, Ankita Pradhan, delivered a commendable performance in the 58 kg category. She won gold in the Youth division and added a bronze medal in the Junior division, contributing further to Odisha’s medal tally.

Odisha’s success at the national league was strengthened by additional podium finishes. Prativa Rani Patra won a bronze medal in the 77 kg youth category, while Rimjhim Nayak claimed a silver medal in the 69 kg Senior category, highlighting the depth of talent among the state’s women lifters.

With multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals at the ASMITA Khelo India Women’s National Weightlifting League in Modinagar, Odisha’s women weightlifters once again proved their dominance on the national stage, reflecting the effectiveness of the state’s grassroots development and high-performance training programs.
