Boudh’s Sabar Sabaruni Nata Shines as Key Attraction in Ekamra Walks Odia Literary Trail

The upcoming edition of the Odia Literary Trail under Ekamra Walks, an initiative of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), is set to captivate culture enthusiasts with the traditional Sabar Sabaruni Nata performed by a folk troupe from Boudh district. Scheduled every Sunday from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm till February 2026, the trail offers a deep dive into Odisha’s literary, linguistic, and cultural heritage.

This week’s highlight, Sabar Sabaruni Nata, showcases indigenous tribal rituals, oral traditions, and the cultural vibrancy of Boudh’s folk legacy. The event aims to provide participants—students, residents, and cultural explorers—with an authentic experience of Odisha’s tribal performing arts.

Adding to the immersive journey, celebrated storyteller Pandit Godabarisha Mohaparta will present ‘Nila Mastarani,’ bringing Odia folklore, literature, and timeless narratives to life through expressive storytelling.

The trail will also feature an insightful lecture by Dr. Debasish Mahapatra on the chronological development of Odia script and language. His session will guide attendees through the historical evolution of the Odia language, shedding light on its rich cultural depth, continuity, and script development over centuries.

Officials from the Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department, co-partnering the initiative, highlighted that blending folk performances, storytelling, and academic insights fosters deeper cultural appreciation and strengthens community engagement.

Participants interested in joining the Odia Literary Trail can book their slots online at www.ekamra-walks.com or contact 7005205400. Attendees must report at Ekamra Haat before the trail begins on Sunday.

This engaging weekly program continues to position Ekamra Walks as a significant platform for celebrating Odisha’s heritage, literature, and living cultural traditions.
