In a significant move towards digital transformation in the power distribution sector, TPCODL has successfully implemented the DigiPIN based National Addressing Grid across its entire operational area in central Odisha. Covering a vast geographical spread of over 29,354 square kilometers, the initiative marks a major step in enhancing efficiency, accuracy and service delivery in electricity distribution.

As part of this large scale deployment, the company has digitally mapped more than 93,000 transformers, over 1,500 ring main units and nearly 19 lakh electricity poles, each assigned a unique DigiPIN code. This precise mapping system divides the service area into highly accurate 4 meter by 4 meter grids, ensuring that every location is uniquely identifiable and easy to access for operational purposes.

One of the standout features of this system is its ability to function completely offline, enabling uninterrupted field operations even in areas with limited or no internet connectivity. This capability significantly enhances the efficiency of ground teams, allowing them to locate assets quickly and carry out maintenance or repairs without delays.

The integration of DigiPIN with the company’s Geographic Information System platform also brings notable improvements in consumer service. Customers can now share their exact location through government platforms with ease, enabling faster complaint resolution and more efficient handling of service requests. This level of precision reduces response time and improves overall customer satisfaction.

Additionally, field teams benefit from accurate navigation and asset tracking, which not only boosts operational efficiency but also enhances safety during on ground activities.
