Improved Odisha Plus II 2026 Results Reflect Inspiring Journeys Of Young Achievers

The Annual Higher Secondary Examination (AHSE) 2026 results in Odisha reflected a remarkable improvement in overall student performance, with the state recording an overall pass percentage of 85.85%, nearly three percentage points higher than last year’s 82.77%. The Plus II results also highlighted inspiring success stories of students from humble backgrounds who excelled despite financial challenges.

Among the top achievers, Archita Sahu from Sundargarh district emerged as a shining example of determination and hard work. The daughter of a daily-wage worker, Archita secured 95.17% marks (571 out of 600) in the Arts stream while studying at Government Higher Secondary School, Rourkela. She credited her achievement to disciplined study routines, support from her parents, and guidance from teachers. Archita studied for around five to six hours daily, extending it to nearly ten hours during examinations. She now aspires to pursue graduation in Arts and later prepare for the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) examination.

Another remarkable achievement came from Ganjam district, where Anshuman Sadangi scored an outstanding 99.17% (595 out of 600). The son of a taxi driver and a tailor, Anshuman overcame financial limitations with the support of his parents, who ensured his education at Nalanda Vidya Mandir after his excellent performance in Class 10. Instead of focusing on long study hours, he concentrated on conceptual clarity. Anshuman is now preparing for admission to an IIT and will appear for the NISER entrance examination scheduled on June 6.

Students of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) also delivered an impressive performance across all streams in the Odisha Plus II Results 2026. More than 50% of students secured first division, while several students scored above 90% marks. In Arts and Commerce streams, five students each crossed the 90% mark, while seven students achieved the feat in Science. Neha Kujur topped the Arts stream at KISS with 91%, Saribala Munda secured the highest marks in Science with 96%, and Shashimani Majhi topped Commerce with 91%.

Among all streams, Science recorded the highest pass percentage at 88.82%, followed by Commerce at 88.07%, Arts at 84.5%, and Vocational Education at 77.62%. Vocational Education witnessed a significant improvement compared to last year’s 60.57% pass percentage. District-wise, Sambalpur recorded the highest overall pass percentage in Odisha at 89.48%. Balasore achieved the highest Science pass percentage at 96.63%, while Boudh and Nabarangpur districts registered a perfect 100% pass rate in Commerce and Vocational Education respectively. Sambalpur also recorded the highest pass percentage in Arts at 89.48%.

CHSE Chairman Mrunal Kanti Das stated that the number of students scoring 90% and above has tripled this year, increasing from nearly 2,000 students in 2025 to over 6,000 students in 2026. This year, more than 3.98 lakh students appeared for the Odisha Plus II examinations conducted between February 18 and April 25 across the state.
