Bhubaneswar Woman Anshu Malini Enters Guinness World Records Six Times Through Crochet Art And Determination
Anshu Malini from Bhubaneswar has scripted an inspiring story of creativity, patience and determination by entering the Guinness World Records six times through her extraordinary crochet art. Transforming simple wool and a crochet hook into remarkable works of craftsmanship, she has gained national and international recognition for her dedication to the traditional craft.
Her record breaking journey began in 2017 when she created a 14.09 kilometre long crochet muffler, a unique achievement that earned her first entry into the Guinness World Records. The feat marked the beginning of a remarkable path where she continuously pushed the limits of crochet artistry. Over the years she produced tens of thousands of crochet sculptures, ornaments, shawls, caps and decorative items, each reflecting immense patience and skill and leading to multiple world record recognitions.
Before gaining fame as a crochet artist, Anshu Malini worked as a professional with All India Radio. Even while managing her family responsibilities, she dedicates nearly ten to twelve hours every day to crocheting. Her creations include scarves, shawls and detailed decorative pieces as well as intricate three dimensional crochet figures of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, which reflect Odisha’s cultural heritage through yarn and creativity.
Her achievements are not limited to setting world records. Anshu also uses her talent for social good by donating woollen items to soldiers and children in need, spreading warmth and kindness through her craft. Her journey stands as a powerful example of how passion and persistence can transform a simple hobby into a global achievement.
Continuing her mission to promote crochet art, Anshu Malini is preparing for another major exhibition planned for August 2026 where she aims to showcase more than fifty thousand granny squares. Through her dedication and creativity, the Bhubaneswar based artist continues to inspire people by proving that age is never a barrier to learning, creativity and remarkable success.
