Over 90 Folk Artists from Odisha Interact with President Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan
More than 90 traditional folk artists from Odisha's Ganjam district visited Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi and interacted with President Droupadi Murmu. Led by Ganjam District Collector V. Keerthi Vasan, the delegation represented five prominent cultural troupes, including artists from the Saura tribal community as well as local Dandakali, Sankirtan, and performing art groups. The visit was organized after President Murmu was impressed by their performances during her recent tour of Ganjam district and personally invited them to the presidential residence.
During the interaction, President Murmu highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting indigenous cultural heritage as a collective responsibility. She encouraged the younger performers to pursue their education diligently while maintaining their artistic traditions to build self-reliance and national recognition. The artists described spending over half an hour with the President and exploring major national landmarks in New Delhi as an unforgettable milestone in their lives.
