Odisha Lok Bhavan Becomes India’s First Governor’s Campus to Earn IGBC Platinum Certification
Odisha’s Lok Bhavan in Bhubaneswar has made history by becoming the first Governor’s campus in India to secure the prestigious IGBC Green Campus Platinum Certification. Achieving an outstanding score of 88 out of 100 under the Indian Green Building Council’s strict Green Campus v1 criteria, the historic campus earned the highest environmental rating through a series of sustainable infrastructure upgrades. Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati officially received the award plaque at a special ceremony held at the campus.
The historic transformation features an impressive green cover of over 80%, home to more than 2,300 trees and rich local biodiversity. To reduce its environmental footprint, Lok Bhavan deployed a 635 kWp solar energy system, cut water consumption by over 35% using rainwater harvesting, established on-site organic waste composting, and became the first Lok Bhavan in the country to transition its official motorcade entirely to electric vehicles.
