The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra, currently a senior judge at the Orissa High Court, for appointment as the next Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court. The decision was formalized during a Collegium meeting to fill the upcoming vacancy following the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice on September 4, 2026.

Elevated as a judge of the Orissa High Court in April 2015, Justice Mohapatra brings extensive judicial experience across civil, criminal, service, and constitutional law matters. Prior to his elevation to the bench, he enrolled with the Orissa State Bar Council in 1988 and served as Additional Standing Counsel for both the Odisha State Government and the Odisha Public Service Commission.
